Pure organic chlorella for plant-based nutrition

Chlorella is one of nature’s most concentrated green foods. This freshwater microalga is naturally rich in protein and provides iron and vitamin B12, making these tablets an easy way to add chlorella to your everyday diet without mixing powders into drinks or food.

Each daily serving of 8 tablets provides 4 g of 100% organic Chlorella vulgaris, including 2.58 g of protein, 3 mg of iron and 2.3 µg of vitamin B12.

A nutrient-rich green microalga

Chlorella is particularly interesting for its naturally concentrated nutritional profile. More than half of the chlorella in the daily serving is protein, while its naturally occurring iron and vitamin B12 make it especially interesting for people exploring nutrient-dense, plant-based foods.

Vitamin B12 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism, normal functioning of the nervous system and normal red blood cell formation. It also contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

Iron contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism, normal cognitive function and normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin. It also contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

Why choose chlorella tablets?

The tablet format makes chlorella particularly convenient if you want to include this nutrient-rich green microalga in your diet without having to mix chlorella powder into smoothies, juices or food.

With its naturally high protein content and its contribution of iron and vitamin B12, chlorella is an interesting choice for anyone looking to add more nutrient-dense, plant-based foods to their everyday diet.

Take the tablets with water as part of your morning or daytime routine, at home, at work or while travelling.

More information

Origin: India

Product form: Pressed tablets
Daily amount: 4 g chlorella (8 tablets)

What makes chlorella interesting?

Chlorella is a microscopic, single-celled green alga naturally rich in chlorophyll. Despite its tiny size, it has a remarkably concentrated nutritional composition, particularly in protein.

In this product, a daily serving of 4 g chlorella provides 2.58 g protein, meaning that approximately 64.5% of the chlorella is protein.

Chlorella is also interesting because it naturally provides iron and vitamin B12, two nutrients that are particularly relevant in plant-based diets.

🌿Vitamin B12 in chlorella

Vitamin B12 is usually associated with foods of animal origin, which makes its presence in chlorella particularly interesting.

This chlorella provides 2.3 µg of vitamin B12 per daily serving, equivalent to 92% of the EU Reference Intake.

Not all algae are alike when it comes to vitamin B12. Some algae, particularly spirulina, may contain substantial amounts of compounds known as B12 analogues or pseudo-B12. These resemble vitamin B12 chemically but cannot be used by the human body in the same way as biologically active vitamin B12.

Chlorella has attracted scientific interest because research on certain Chlorella vulgaris preparations has identified biologically active forms of vitamin B12. This is one of the characteristics that distinguishes chlorella nutritionally from many other algae.

The exact forms of vitamin B12 present can vary according to the chlorella strain and cultivation conditions, so the vitamin B12 content stated for this product is based on its declared nutritional composition rather than assuming a particular B12 form.

🌿Why does vitamin B12 matter?

Vitamin B12 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism, normal functioning of the nervous system, normal psychological function and normal red blood cell formation. It also contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

Together with the naturally occurring iron and high protein content, this makes chlorella an interesting nutrient-dense addition to a varied diet, particularly for people who eat predominantly plant-based foods.

Usage tips

Take 4 tablets twice daily, for a total of 8 tablets per day. Swallow with a glass of water.

Chlorella can be taken with meals or between meals, depending on your preference. If you are new to chlorella, you may prefer to introduce it gradually before working up to the full daily amount.

The tablets are a practical alternative to chlorella powder, particularly if you do not enjoy its distinctive green taste. They can easily be included in a morning and evening routine or taken with you when travelling.

Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

A little history

Chlorella may be microscopic, but its story stretches back billions of years. Green microalgae are among the ancient photosynthetic organisms that helped shape life on Earth, using sunlight to transform carbon dioxide and water into organic matter while releasing oxygen.

Chlorella itself was first scientifically described in 1890 by the Dutch microbiologist Martinus Willem Beijerinck. Its name comes from the Greek chloros, meaning green, combined with the Latin diminutive -ella, meaning small, a fitting name for this tiny, intensely green organism.

Interest in chlorella grew considerably during the 20th century, particularly after the Second World War, when scientists began investigating microalgae as concentrated and efficiently cultivated sources of nutrition. Its rapid growth and naturally high protein content made it especially intriguing at a time when researchers were looking for new ways to produce nutritious foods.

Although chlorella never became the large-scale answer to global food production once imagined, it found a different place. From the 1960s onwards, it became increasingly popular as a nutritional supplement, particularly in Japan and other parts of Asia.

Today, Chlorella vulgaris is cultivated around the world and remains one of the best-known edible microalgae, valued for its distinctive deep-green colour and concentrated nutritional composition.

FAQ

🌿 Why is chlorella often associated with detox and heavy metals?
Chlorella has a long-standing reputation as a “green detox” supplement and has also been scientifically investigated for its interaction with certain environmental contaminants and heavy metals. This is one reason it has become popular in cleansing routines.

🌿 Can chlorella help with tiredness and low energy?
This chlorella naturally provides both vitamin B12 and iron, and here we have something very concrete. Vitamin B12 and iron contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. The daily serving provides 92% of the Reference Intake for vitamin B12 and 21% for iron.

🌿 Is the vitamin B12 in chlorella different from the B12 in spirulina?
Potentially, yes, and this is one of the most interesting differences between the two algae. Spirulina is known to contain significant amounts of B12-like compounds called pseudo-B12, which the human body cannot use like active vitamin B12. Research on certain Chlorella vulgaris preparations has identified biologically active forms of B12. This product provides 2.3 µg vitamin B12 per daily serving, equivalent to 92% of the EU Reference Intake.

🌿 Is chlorella a good choice for vegetarians and vegans?
Chlorella can be particularly interesting in a plant-based diet because of its concentrated nutritional composition. This product provides protein, iron and vitamin B12 from chlorella. A daily serving of 4 g contains 2.58 g protein, 3 mg iron and 2.3 µg vitamin B12.

🌿 Can chlorella be taken as part of a cleansing routine?
Yes, chlorella is commonly included in nutritional cleansing routines, and this is one of its best-known traditional and contemporary uses. For everyday use, the recommended serving can simply be divided between morning and evening. If you are new to chlorella, introducing it gradually can also be a practical approach.

🌿 Does chlorella support digestion and the gut?
Chlorella has been investigated for its relationship with the intestinal environment and gut microbiota, which makes this an interesting area of ongoing research. However, I would not present chlorella as a treatment for constipation, IBS or other digestive disorders. If you are introducing chlorella for the first time, taking it gradually and with sufficient water is a sensible way to incorporate it into your routine.
