When to Use Green Propolis Hydroalcoholic Extract

Green propolis has a long tradition in natural wellness, valued for its protective, soothing and purifying properties. This hydroalcoholic extract offers a concentrated form that can be used both internally and externally. Here are the moments when customers typically reach for it:

Throat and Mouth Discomfort

Use when the throat feels dry, irritated, scratchy or tired. Green propolis has a naturally protective, resinous quality that supports comfort during seasonal changes, cold weather, or periods of heavy voice use.
Also ideal when the gums feel sensitive or when the mouth needs extra soothing care.

Immune Support During Seasonal Changes

Commonly used as a natural support during autumn and winter, or whenever the body feels run-down. Many people take it as part of their daily routine to help maintain natural resilience in demanding periods or during travel.

General Oral Hygiene

Diluted in water, the extract can be used as a mouth rinse. It supports a clean, balanced oral environment and is traditionally used when gums or the inside of the mouth feel irritated.

Skin Purification and Topical Support

Externally, diluted green propolis can be applied to areas of the skin that need gentle cleansing and protection. This includes small imperfections, impurities, or areas exposed to environmental stress.
Its resinous nature creates a natural protective layer while supporting the skin’s recovery process.

When Feeling Fatigued or Weakened

Frequently used during times of physical or emotional fatigue. The natural plant compounds in green propolis are traditionally appreciated for helping the body regain a sense of strength and steadiness.

During Recovery Periods

Many people use it as supportive care when they want to rebuild vitality after stressful phases, seasonal discomfort, or general depletion. It complements daily rituals aimed at strengthening overall wellbeing.

Daily Wellness Ritual

Green propolis extract can be taken daily as a natural part of a wellness routine. A few drops in water each morning is a common way to maintain ongoing support for throat comfort, oral hygiene and natural defenses.

When Skin Needs Extra Protection

Green propolis is valued in traditional naturopathy for protecting exposed skin. It is used on small areas that need purified, clean care, especially after minor environmental irritation or when extra support is desired.

Travel and Changing Environments

Useful during travel, seasonal transitions, and weather shifts when the body’s natural defenses may feel challenged. Many keep it in their bag as a daily protective routine.

A little history

Propolis comes from the Greek pro (“in defense of”) and polis (“city”) - literally, “defender of the city.” Bees collect sticky resins from tree buds and bark, mix them with wax and enzymes, and use the resulting substance to sterilize and protect their hive. They coat the walls, seal cracks, and even embalm intruders (like invading insects) to prevent decay. Ancient observers noticed this uncanny cleanliness and quickly realized propolis was something special.

In ancient Egypt, propolis was used in mummification, prized for its preservative power. Greek and Roman physicians, including Aristotle and Pliny the Elder, recommended it for wound healing and oral care. In medieval Europe, apothecaries sold it as a balm for ulcers and infections. Russian folk medicine gave it the nickname “Russian penicillin” for its broad antimicrobial use.

Modern science later confirmed what tradition intuited: propolis contains a rich blend of flavonoids, phenolic acids, and essential oils with antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant activity. The “green propolis” from Brazil is particularly potent, thanks to bees collecting resins from Baccharis dracunculifolia, a native plant with unique bioactive compounds.

So, across cultures and centuries, propolis has remained what it always was: the hive’s immune system - and by extension, a natural model for ours.
