Household Uses
🌿Polishing and Cleaning Metals:
Use Blanc de Meudon to polish silverware, copper, brass, tin, pewter, and stainless steel. Sprinkle a small amount directly onto a damp sponge and rub the surface gently but firmly. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth to reveal a natural shine.
🌿Make a Scouring Cream:
In a jar filled with Blanc de Meudon, mix in liquid black soap until you obtain a smooth, creamy texture.
Add a few drops of essential oil (such as lemon or lavender) for fragrance and preservation.
Use on sinks, enamel, tiles, and ceramic surfaces for a natural, chemical-free deep clean.
🌿Create Your Own Clay Stone (Cleaning Paste):
1. Pour Blanc de Meudon into a bowl.
2. Add water gradually while stirring until a thick paste forms.
3. Transfer to a pot and let dry for at least 24 hours before use.
For enhanced cleaning power, mix 2 parts Blanc de Meudon, 1 part baking soda, and 1 spoon of black soap.
🌿For Glass, Mirrors, and Windows:
Mix 1 part Blanc de Meudon with 1 part water. Apply evenly with a cloth or sponge. Let it dry, then polish with newspaper or a soft cloth for a streak-free shine.
🎄Holiday or Decorative Window Designs:
Mix Blanc de Meudon with water (1 part powder to ½ part water). Optionally, add natural pigments for color.
Apply to windows with a brush or stencil to create festive designs - perfect for Christmas! The mixture dries opaque and removes easily with a damp cloth.
🌿Protect Windows During Renovations:
Apply a Blanc de Meudon coating to shop windows or panes before work to prevent scratches or paint stains. Simply wipe it off after renovations.
🌹Garden Uses
🌿Protect Birds from Glass Collisions:
Birds often injure themselves by flying into windows, especially during spring.
Mix Blanc de Meudon with water and a dark pigment (ideally black), then apply to the outside of windows using a stencil cut in the shape of a bird silhouette.
🌿Natural Lawn Conditioner:
Sprinkle about 150 g per m² of Blanc de Meudon over your lawn to strengthen the grass and provide a natural calcium boost.
🌿Mark Garden Lines:
Pass a garden line (string) through Blanc de Meudon powder. When snapped, it leaves a visible white mark on the soil - perfect for straight planting rows.
DIY & Creative Uses
🌿Degreasing Paintwork:
Apply pure Blanc de Meudon with a sponge or cloth onto the painted surface. Leave overnight, then rinse. The paint will be clean, mattified, and slightly roughened.
For faster results, brush vigorously with a natural-bristle brush. This traditional technique is still used by gilders to prepare frames and furniture.
🌿Natural Pigment & Thickener:
Blanc de Meudon serves as a filler pigment for thickening paints, limewashes, and whitewashes. It helps improve consistency and coverage while maintaining a natural matte finish.
🌿For Extra Shine:
Add 1 tablespoon of Blanc de Meudon to your paint rinse water - it enhances the brilliance and depth of your colors.
🌿Homemade Wall Paint (Secondary Paint):
For cellars, garages, or workshops, mix 65% Blanc de Meudon with 35% glue (such as methylcellulose) diluted in water. The result is a breathable, matte coating ideal for interior walls.
🌿Traditional Window Putty (Mastic à Vitre):
Mix 4 parts Blanc de Meudon with 1 part linseed oil (with siccative) until you obtain a smooth, uniform paste.
Tip: to prevent the putty from sticking to your hands, dust them with Blanc de Meudon before application.
🌿Repair Marble or Alabaster:
Mix Blanc de Meudon with resin or varnish to fill small cracks or chips. Once dry, polish lightly to restore the surface’s original appearance.
