Lady's mantle is a perennial herb native to Europe, commonly found in meadows, pastures and other cool, moist environments. It forms low-growing clumps of distinctive rounded leaves with softly folded, scalloped edges.

One of its most fascinating features is the way droplets gather on the leaves. These are not always simply drops of morning dew. Lady's mantle can release water through tiny structures along the leaf margins, a natural process known as guttation. The droplets collect in the folds of the leaf and were once considered so special that alchemists collected them for their experiments.
