A true essential for kitchen, beauty, and daily care

Perfect for cooking, even at high temperatures
Not all oils behave the same way when heated. Organic coconut oil is naturally high in saturated fatty acids, which makes it particularly stable for cooking. Use it for frying, sautéing, roasting and baking, or as a plant-based alternative to butter in many recipes. It is also naturally suitable for ketogenic diets.

For dry, curly and frizzy hair
Coconut oil is naturally rich in lauric acid, a fatty acid known for its affinity with hair proteins. This makes coconut oil particularly interesting as a pre-wash treatment for hair that feels dry, coarse or difficult to manage. Work a small amount through the lengths and ends, or use it as a richer hair mask before shampooing. It can be used on straight, wavy, curly and coily hair, adjusting the amount to the hair type.

Soft, nourished and comfortable skin
Rich and naturally emollient, coconut oil leaves dry skin feeling softer, smoother and more supple. Melt a small amount between your hands and use it on the body, particularly on areas prone to dryness such as elbows, knees, hands and feet. It can also be used as a simple body or massage oil, or after shaving when you want a richer oil-based finish.

A multi-purpose bathroom essential
One jar can replace several simple products in the bathroom. Use coconut oil to dissolve makeup, soften dry lips and cuticles, condition dry hair, or as a body and massage oil. Its texture changes naturally with temperature, so simply warm a little between your hands whenever the oil is solid.

Extra virgin, cold-pressed and nothing added
Made from fresh coconut flesh in Sri Lanka, this organic coconut oil is obtained by first cold pressing and remains unrefined. It contains 100% organic coconut oil with no additives and is packed in a glass jar. The result is a pure, versatile oil with the characteristic light coconut aroma and flavour.

More information

Why is coconut oil solid sometimes and liquid at other times?
Coconut oil naturally changes texture with temperature. It is generally solid or semi-solid in a cooler room and becomes clear and liquid as it warms. This is completely normal and does not affect the quality of the oil.

What makes extra virgin coconut oil different?
This oil is obtained by first cold pressing fresh coconut flesh and is left unrefined. This preserves the coconut oil in a form close to the original raw material, including its characteristic coconut aroma and flavour.

Naturally rich in lauric acid
One of the most distinctive features of coconut oil is its fatty-acid composition. It contains a high proportion of saturated fatty acids, with lauric acid being particularly characteristic. Lauric acid is also interesting for hair care because of its affinity with hair proteins, which is one reason coconut oil has become such a popular pre-shampoo and hair-conditioning oil.

One oil, two very different uses
Few kitchen oils are quite as versatile as coconut oil. The same jar can be used for frying, baking and plant-based cooking, then used externally as a simple oil for the body, massage, dry areas and hair. For cosmetic use, a little goes a long way, particularly on finer hair or facial skin.

Naturally coconut-scented
Because the oil is unrefined, it retains a light natural coconut aroma and flavour. This is worth knowing when cooking: if you want the character of coconut to disappear completely into a dish, a refined coconut oil would generally be the more neutral choice. If you enjoy the natural character of coconut, extra virgin oil is the more interesting option.

100% coconut oil
There are no blends or added ingredients. The jar contains 100% organic extra virgin coconut oil from Sri Lanka, packed in glass.

A little History

Coconuts are thought to have originated in the Indo-Pacific region, spreading both through human migration and naturally along tropical coastlines. A coconut can float for remarkable distances and still remain capable of germinating when it reaches land. Wherever the coconut palm became established, people found uses for almost every part of it.

In India and the Ayurvedic tradition, coconut oil developed a particularly important role. It has long been regarded as a cooling oil and incorporated into traditional body oiling, scalp and hair rituals, massage and herbal oil preparations. In the hot climates of southern India, coconut oil became deeply woven into both food culture and everyday personal care.

Across Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia, coconut oil was equally practical. It was used for cooking, hair and body care, massage, lamps and numerous household purposes. It was not necessarily regarded as a specialist beauty ingredient or health food. It was simply one of the useful substances provided by a tree that formed part of everyday life.

In many Pacific and Polynesian cultures, coconut oil also became closely associated with care of the body. Coconut oils, sometimes infused with fragrant local flowers and plants, were used on the skin and hair and incorporated into massage, ceremonial and cultural traditions. Oiling the body was practical as well as beautiful, particularly in environments shaped by strong sun, salt water and wind.

As maritime trade expanded, coconut products travelled far beyond the regions where the palms grew. Coconut oil eventually became an international commodity and found new applications in soap making, candle making and food manufacture. By the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, industrial refining and processing had transformed coconut oil from a locally produced traditional oil into a globally traded raw material.

Today, interest in extra virgin, minimally processed coconut oil has brought the story closer to where it began. Rather than treating coconut oil merely as an industrial fat, cold-pressed oils once again highlight the aroma, flavour and remarkable versatility that made coconut so valuable in the cultures that have used it for generations.

Historically, coconut oil was never just one thing. It could be food, hair oil, body oil, massage oil, lamp fuel and household staple, all from the same fruit. That extraordinary versatility is not a modern wellness trend. It is one of the reasons the coconut palm has been valued for so long.
