More information

The saponification value (SAP) of olive wax is generally around 80 to 90 mg KOH/g.

This means for saponification:

- With sodium hydroxide (NaOH), you need approximately 0.056 to 0.063 g of NaOH per gram of olive wax.

- With potassium hydroxide (KOH), you need approximately 0.08 to 0.09 g of KOH per gram of olive wax.

Olive wax is a plant-based wax that adds hardness and smoothness to soap while also helping to stabilize the lather. It is often used in small amounts (5 to 15% of the total oils) in a soap recipe to improve texture and longevity.

Usage tips

Nourishing Olive Wax Cream with Vitamin E
🌿 Hydrating, soothing, and protective – ideal for dry and sensitive skin.

Ingredients (for 100g of cream)

🟢 Phase A (Oil Phase)
10g Olive Wax (thickening & emollient)
10g Jojoba Oil (hydrating & sebum-balancing)
10g Sweet Almond Oil (softening & soothing)
5g Shea Butter (deeply nourishing)

🟢 Phase B (Water Phase)
60g Hydrosol (e.g., Rose, Chamomile, or Orange Blossom) (hydrating & calming)
5g Vegetable Glycerin (moisturizing & humectant)

🟢 Phase C (Cool-Down Phase)
0.5g (about 10 drops) Vitamin E (Tocopherol) (antioxidant & nourishing)
3-5 drops Essential Oil (e.g., Lavender, Rose, or Neroli) (optional, for scent & skincare benefits)

Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare a double boiler: Heat the oil phase (A) (olive wax, oils, and butter) over a pot of simmering water until fully melted.
2️⃣ Warm the water phase (B) separately to match the oil phase temperature (around 70°C/160°F).
3️⃣ Emulsify: Slowly pour the water phase into the oil phase while whisking continuously with a hand mixer or whisk. Continue whisking until creamy.
4️⃣ Let it cool to below 40°C (104°F), then add Vitamin E and essential oils (Phase C). Stir well.
5️⃣ Transfer to a sterilized jar and let it set. The cream will thicken as it cools.

Storage & Shelf Life
- Store in a clean, airtight container.
- Keep in a cool, dry place for up to 6 weeks (since Vitamin E is an antioxidant, not a full preservative).
- For longer shelf life (3+ months), store it in the fridge.
