Extracted from sustainably cultivated White Sandalwood in Nepal, this precious essential oil is celebrated for its sweet, creamy, and delicately woody aroma that inspires calm, clarity, and emotional balance.

White Sandalwood (Santalum album) is a small tree native to India and Malaysia, reaching 10 to 12 meters in height. Its drooping branches form a graceful crown, while its oval, lanceolate, opposite leaves remain evergreen throughout the year. The tree produces numerous flowers, grouped in panicles that shift in color from straw-yellow to deep red. Thriving in hot, dry regions, White Sandalwood has been cultivated for thousands of years for its aromatic heartwood, highly valued in perfumery and spiritual traditions.

Used in aromatherapy, White Sandalwood essential oil is ideal for meditation, relaxation, and skincare rituals. Its soothing and harmonizing qualities help quiet the mind while gently nourishing and softening the skin.

A little history

White Sandalwood, also known as Sandalwood essential oil, is among the most precious and ancient natural fragrances known to humankind. Its story stretches back thousands of years, woven through spirituality, medicine, and perfumery.

Originating in India, White Sandalwood has been revered since Antiquity, particularly in Ayurvedic medicine, where it was valued for its cooling, purifying, and calming properties. The wood and its aromatic essence were used in sacred rituals, meditation, and healing practices. From India, sandalwood made its way along ancient caravan trade routes, becoming one of the most sought-after exports in Asia and the Middle East.

The earliest recorded use of White Sandalwood essential oil dates back to the 9th century, on the island of Ceylon (modern-day Sri Lanka), where it was used to embalm the bodies of princes—a symbol of both reverence and luxury. By the 18th century, it appeared in European pharmacopeias and perfumery, notably in preparations such as Imperial Water and Viper’s Syrup, both prized remedies of their time for their aromatic and soothing properties.

Across centuries and cultures, White Sandalwood has remained a symbol of purity, wisdom, and serenity, its fragrance bridging the sacred and the sensual, the medicinal and the mystical.
