Recipes
The many uses and recipes made with black soap are countless, but here are some of the most common. You’ll find it suitable for a variety of applications. Black soap cleans, degreases, nourishes, and shines most washable surfaces (floors, tiles, plastics, ceramics, marbles, wooden floors, slates, waxed concrete, linoleum, etc.).
Kitchen
Make your own dishwashing liquid
In a reused plastic bottle, pour:
1. 100 g of baking soda
2. 10 tablespoons of black soap
3. Fill with 500 ml of warm water.
4. Shake before each use.
For stubborn grease on dishes, pour a few drops of black soap directly onto a sponge and wash as usual.
Remove grease stains
Apply a small amount of black soap to greasy surfaces (hoods, ovens, worktops, hobs, etc.).
Leave to act for 5–10 minutes, then rinse with warm water.
Oven, fryer, and baking tray cleaning
For very greasy surfaces, mix 1 part black soap and 1 part Blanc de Meudon (Meudon white clay). Apply, leave for a few minutes, scrub, and rinse.
Floors and Tiles
Black soap excels in cleaning floors and tiles.
Directions:
Dilute 2–3 tablespoons of liquid black soap in 5 liters of hot water.
Mop, then rinse with warm water.
For wooden or tiled floors, use lukewarm water and avoid excessive rinsing to maintain the protective oil layer. Black soap nourishes and adds shine without leaving a greasy residue.
General Cleaning
All-purpose household cleaner
For all non-delicate, dirty, or stained surfaces:
Dilute 1 tablespoon of liquid black soap in 3 liters of hot water.
Multi-surface spray (ready-to-use)
In a spray bottle:
1 part liquid black soap
4 parts water
You can also add a few drops of essential oil (such as lemon or lavender) for a natural fragrance. Shake before use.
Windows and mirrors
Add 1 teaspoon of black soap to 5 liters of hot water. Wash and wipe with a lint-free cloth.
Parquet floors and terracotta tiles
Use lukewarm water to clean. Avoid over-rinsing to preserve the wood’s natural finish and shine.
Laundry
Make your own laundry detergent
Dissolve 1 part liquid black soap in 3 parts hot water in a labeled bottle.
If needed, add ¼ part washing soda crystals and a few drops of essential oil.
Shake before each use. For a 5 kg machine, use 1 glass of this mixture.
Stubborn Stains on Clothing (collars, cuffs, etc.)
Apply a few drops of black soap directly to the stain.
Leave for 15–30 minutes, rub gently, and wash normally.
DIY & Workshop
Clean hands after DIY, painting, or gardening
Apply a small amount of black soap directly to your hands, rub, then rinse thoroughly. Black soap removes grease, paint, and dirt effectively.
Clean paintbrushes
Soak brushes in warm water with 1 tablespoon of black soap. Leave overnight, then rinse and dry.
Limewashing and Coatings
Limewash stabilizer
In a pot: mix 1 part liquid black soap with 2 parts water.
Add to limewash mixtures to improve adhesion and flexibility.
Garden
Repel aphids and small insects naturally
Dilute 2 tablespoons of black soap in 1 liter of water.
Spray on plants to protect leaves, flowers, and stems.
Cleaning garden tools and rustic equipment
Wash with warm water and a few drops of black soap to remove sap, dirt, and rust traces.
Animal Care
For animal hygiene (dogs, horses, etc.)
Dilute 1 tablespoon of liquid black soap in 1 liter of warm water.
Use as a gentle cleanser for the coat. Black soap helps remove dirt, nourishes the fur, and leaves it shiny and soft.
