Organic Hemp Seed Purée – A Natural Boost of Plant Goodness

Rich, creamy and naturally nutty, this organic hemp seed purée is made from just one ingredient: 100% organic French hemp seeds (Cannabis sativa L.). The seeds are cold-pressed into a smooth whole-seed purée, with nothing else added.

What makes hemp purée particularly interesting is that you get more of the seed than you would from hemp oil alone. It naturally combines the seed's valuable fats with an exceptionally high fibre content, making it an easy way to bring more nutritional variety into everyday meals.

The purée contains 52.2 g of fat per 100 g, of which 38.8 g are polyunsaturated fatty acids. Particularly notable is its naturally occurring omega-3 content of 30.2 g per 100 g, alongside 8.6 g of omega-6. Just 15 g of the purée provides approximately 4.5 g of omega-3.

It is also high in fibre, providing 18.6 g per 100 g. This combination of naturally occurring fats and fibre makes hemp purée very different from hemp oil, while its smooth texture gives it completely different possibilities in the kitchen from whole hemp seeds.

The flavour is mild, earthy and pleasantly nutty. Spread it on toast, swirl it into porridge, add it to smoothies, hummus and dips, whisk it into salad dressings or stir a spoonful into soup after cooking. It works especially well when you want the nutritional qualities of hemp in a creamy form rather than as an oil or crunchy seed.

Produced in France from organically grown French hemp, this is food-grade hemp with no psychoactive effect. The finished purée is naturally rich and creamy without added oil, sugar, preservatives or texturising ingredients.

For the best use of its naturally occurring polyunsaturated fats, enjoy the purée raw or added after cooking rather than exposed to high heat.

One plant. One ingredient. A surprisingly versatile way to bring organic hemp into the everyday kitchen.

More information

🌿What makes hemp seed purée different?

Hemp seed purée sits somewhere between whole hemp seeds and hemp oil. Unlike the oil, it is made from the seed itself rather than simply providing the extracted oil fraction. This gives the purée its characteristic creamy texture and means it naturally contains fibre as well as the seed's fats.

🌿An unusual fatty acid profile

More than half of the purée consists naturally of fats, but only 5.3 g of its 52.2 g fat per 100 g is saturated fat. Most is unsaturated, including 38.8 g of polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Its fatty acid profile is particularly distinctive:

Omega-3: 30.2 g per 100 g
Omega-6: 8.6 g per 100 g
Monounsaturated fatty acids: 7.6 g per 100 g

A 15 g spoonful therefore provides approximately 4.5 g of omega-3.

🌿Naturally high in fibre

The purée provides 18.6 g of fibre per 100 g, making fibre another significant characteristic of the product. This is one of the practical nutritional differences between using the whole-seed purée and choosing hemp oil alone.

🌿Why cold use makes sense

The high proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids is also why this is a purée worth treating gently in the kitchen. Rather than using it as a frying fat, enjoy it cold or stir it into warm food after cooking. Its creamy consistency works particularly well in dressings, dips, smoothies, porridge and sauces, or simply spread on bread.

🌿About food-grade hemp

The purée is produced from organically grown French Cannabis sativa L. hemp. Although hemp belongs to the same botanical species associated with cannabis, this product is made from THC-free food-grade hemp seeds and has no psychoactive effect.

There are no added oils or ingredients. The texture, flavour and nutritional composition come from the hemp seeds themselves.

Usage tips

Enjoy it straight from the jar, spread it on bread, or mix it into your meals for a creamy, nutrient-dense finish.

This plant-based purée is a beautiful way to support a wholesome lifestyle while adding flavour, softness, and nourishment to your everyday cooking. It fits effortlessly into vegan, vegetarian, and conscious-living kitchens.

🌿Everyday Usage Tips

• Add 1–2 teaspoons to smoothies for extra creaminess and plant-based nutrients.
• Stir into warm (not boiling) soups just before serving to keep the fatty acids intact.
• Spread on wholegrain bread or crackers as a nutritious alternative to nut butters.
• Mix into yoghurt or porridge for added texture and a gentle nutty flavour.
• Whisk into salad dressings for a creamy, nutrient-rich finish.
• Use as a base for dips and spreads when blending herbs, lemon juice, or garlic.

A little history

Hemp has been part of human life for thousands of years, long before it became associated primarily with cannabis. Archaeological evidence shows that Cannabis sativa was cultivated in Asia in ancient times, and over the centuries it travelled westwards through trade, migration and agriculture.

What made hemp so valuable was its extraordinary versatility. Its strong fibres were used for rope, textiles, sails and cordage, while the seeds provided food and oil. In Europe, hemp eventually became an important agricultural crop, particularly because its durable fibres were so useful for maritime industries.

France developed its own long relationship with hemp, known as chanvre. For centuries it was cultivated for fibre used in ropes, canvas and textiles. The French word canevas, meaning canvas, shares its linguistic roots with Cannabis, a reminder of just how closely hemp was once connected with everyday materials and craftsmanship.

Industrial hemp declined during the 20th century as cotton, synthetic fibres and other materials became dominant. More recently, however, European hemp cultivation has experienced a revival, not only for fibre but also for its edible seeds and naturally occurring oils.

This organic hemp seed purée represents a modern expression of that much older food tradition. French-grown Cannabis sativa L. seeds are transformed into a creamy purée, allowing an ancient crop to find a very simple place in the contemporary kitchen.

FAQ

🌿 What does hemp seed purée actually taste like?
It has a mild, earthy and distinctly nutty flavour, with a rich, creamy consistency. Think of it more like a seed butter than an oil. It works just as naturally in savoury foods such as hummus, dressings and dips as it does stirred into porridge or spread on toast.

🌿 Why choose hemp purée instead of hemp seeds or hemp oil?
They offer three quite different ways to use the same seed. Hemp oil is the liquid fat fraction and is particularly convenient for dressings and finishing dishes. Hulled hemp seeds add texture and a gentle crunch to salads, porridge and bowls. Hemp purée is creamy and spreadable while retaining fibre from the seed, including 18.6 g of fibre per 100 g. It is a particularly useful choice when you want hemp to become part of the dish rather than simply a topping or drizzle.

🌿 Is there really that much omega-3 in it?
Yes. This is one of the most remarkable characteristics of this particular purée. It contains 30.2 g omega-3 per 100 g. That means a 15 g portion provides approximately 4.5 g of omega-3. Its total fat content is 52.2 g per 100 g, including 38.8 g of polyunsaturated fatty acids.

🌿 Does hemp purée make you feel “high”?
No. Although hemp and marijuana both belong to the species Cannabis sativa L., they are cultivated and used very differently. This purée is made from THC-free food-grade hemp seeds and has no psychoactive effect.

🌿 What is an easy way to start using it?
Start with a spoonful somewhere you would normally use a seed or nut butter. Spread it on toast, swirl it through porridge, blend it into a smoothie or whisk it with lemon juice and a little olive oil for a quick dressing. For savoury dishes, it is excellent for adding creaminess to hummus, pesto, dips and sauces without using dairy.

🌿 Can I cook with hemp seed purée?
It is better suited to cold preparations or adding after cooking than to frying or prolonged high-temperature cooking. Its high proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids is one reason to treat it gently. Try stirring it into soup after taking the pan off the heat rather than cooking it for a long time.

🌿 Why can a layer of oil appear on top of the purée?
Because this is a simple seed purée rather than an emulsified spread. There are no added texturising ingredients keeping everything permanently blended together, so natural separation can occur. Simply stir the oil back into the purée before using it. It does not mean that anything is wrong with the product.

🌿 What can I combine it with?
For breakfast, try it with oats, chia seeds, berries, banana or cacao. In savoury food, it pairs particularly well with lemon, garlic, herbs, chickpeas and vegetables. Nutritionally, it is also an interesting partner for foods where you want to add a concentrated seed component without changing the dish as much as whole seeds would.

🌿 How should I store the jar once opened?
Keep it refrigerated after opening, as stated on the product label. Give it a stir before use if the naturally occurring oils have separated.
