🌿How to Make Your Own Laundry Detergent

Making your own laundry detergent is simple, economical, and helps reduce plastic waste.

Ingredients
- 40g Soap Flakes
- 1 litre water
- Optional: 10–20 drops essential oil of your choice

Instructions
1. Bring 1 litre of water to a boil.
2. Add 40g of soap flakes.
3. Stir until the flakes are completely dissolved.
4. If desired, add your chosen essential oil.
5. Pour the mixture into a large bottle or container.
6. Allow to cool. The detergent will thicken as it cools.
7. Shake well before each use.

Dosage
Use approximately one glass (about 100–150ml) of detergent per machine wash, adding it directly to the drum with your laundry.

Tips
- Suitable for both white and coloured laundry.
- For heavily soiled laundry, add 1–2 tablespoons of sodium percarbonate (for whites) or baking soda (for colours).
- White vinegar can be used in the fabric softener compartment as a natural fabric softener.
- Because homemade detergent contains no synthetic stabilisers, separation and thickening are normal. Simply shake before use.

🌿For Delicate Hand Washing
- Dissolve 1 tablespoon of soap flakes in 2 litres of warm water.
- Soak garments for a few minutes.
- Gently hand wash and rinse thoroughly.
- Ideal for wool, silk, lingerie, baby clothes, and other delicate fabrics.

🌿Laundry Booster Ideas
For enhanced cleaning performance, combine with:
- Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to help neutralise odours and freshen laundry.
- Sodium percarbonate to brighten whites and help remove stains.
- White vinegar in the fabric softener compartment to naturally soften fabrics and reduce detergent residue.
