Red mandarin oil can help improve the appearance of dull or tired skin. Add 1-2 drops to your daily moisturizer or mix with 10ml of jojoba oil for a brightening facial oil. It’s particularly beneficial for mature or sensitive skin. Red mandarin that is cold pressed is phototoxic.

- Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 12-24 hours after applying to the skin if using cold-pressed red mandarin oil.
- Alternatively, consider using it in areas that won’t be exposed to the sun or use it in the evening.

6. Natural Air Freshener
Combine 10 drops of red mandarin essential oil with 100ml of water in a spray bottle. Use it to freshen up your living space with a delightful citrus aroma that helps uplift the atmosphere and neutralize unpleasant odors.

A little history

The name "mandarin" has an interesting historical and cultural background. It is believed that the fruit was named after the high-ranking officials of the Chinese imperial court, known as Mandarins, during the time of the Qing dynasty. These officials wore robes in vibrant colors, including orange, which likely inspired the connection to the fruit.

Mandarins were also a symbol of prosperity and good fortune in Chinese culture. The fruit, originally from China, was often given as a traditional gift during the Chinese New Year as a sign of abundance and blessings. Its sweet, fragrant nature made it a prized gift, and this custom continues in parts of China and Southeast Asia today.

The name "mandarin" was introduced to the Western world by Portuguese explorers who brought the fruit back to Europe from Asia in the 16th century. Over time, the name became synonymous with this variety of small, sweet citrus fruits.
