100% pure dried linden bracts

Gentle, soothing and delicately floral, linden bract infusion from Tilia cordata and Tilia platyphyllos has been cherished in European herbal tradition for generations. It is especially valued for calming the nervous system, easing inner tension, and naturally supporting restorative sleep.

This is a single-ingredient infusion made from 100% linden bracts, carefully dried to preserve their beneficial plant compounds and natural aroma.

Better Sleep & Emotional Calm

Linden bracts are known for reducing irritability, nervous tension, and emotional overstimulation. Their mild relaxant action helps the body unwind and supports deeper, more peaceful sleep.

Often used as part of an evening ritual, linden tea can help reduce nighttime awakenings and gently soothe children who experience restlessness or bad dreams.

Stress & Nervous System Support

As a classic nervine herb, linden supports relaxation when the mind feels overactive or the body feels tense. It is ideal during periods of emotional strain, mental fatigue, or that “wired but tired” feeling.

Tension-Related Discomfort

Because of its calming effect on the nervous system and circulation, linden has traditionally been used when headaches or physical discomfort are linked to stress or muscular tension.

Digestive Relaxation

Linden can also gently calm the digestive system, especially when discomfort is connected to stress or nervous tension.

Seasonal Support

In traditional herbal practice, linden infusion has been used during colds and flu to support the body’s natural fever response and encourage gentle perspiration.

More information

A bract is a modified leaf that grows just beneath a flower or a cluster of flowers. It is not a petal, and it is not a regular leaf - it is a protective, supportive structure that plays an important role in the plant’s flowering process.

In linden (Tilia), the bract is the long, pale green, wing-shaped structure attached to the small, fragrant yellowish flowers. If you have ever seen a linden tree in bloom, you may have noticed delicate flower clusters hanging from what looks like a soft, tongue-shaped leaf. That “leaf” is the bract.

When linden is harvested for infusion, the flowers and their attached bracts are typically collected together. The flowers contain many of the aromatic compounds responsible for linden’s calming properties, while the bracts contribute beneficial plant compounds such as flavonoids and soothing mucilage. Together, they create the gentle, relaxing effect linden tea is traditionally known for.

So when the product refers to “linden bract,” it generally means the flowering tops with their attached bracts - the part of the plant traditionally used for calming and sleep-supporting herbal infusions.

Usage tips

Place the recommended amount of linden bract (Tilia cordata, Tilia platyphyllos) in a glass or porcelain container. Pour hot drinking water (maximum 80°C) over the herbs. Cover during infusion to preserve the delicate volatile compounds. Strain before drinking.

🌿 Standard Daily Infusion

Suitable for gentle daily relaxation and sleep support.

Adults:
- 5 teaspoons (approximately 4 g) per day.
- Pour over 150–250 ml of hot water.
- Cover during infusion
- Steep for about 30 minutes before straining.

🌿 Stronger, Medicinal-Style Preparation

For deeper nervous tension, restlessness, or sleep disturbances.

Use the same daily amount (5 teaspoons / 4 g per day), but allow the herbs to steep for 4–8 hours or overnight for a stronger extraction. This method enhances the release of flavonoids and soothing plant compounds.

The infusion may be prepared once daily and consumed warm or at room temperature, especially in the evening.

🌿 Children’s Dosage

Linden is traditionally regarded as a gentle and suitable herb for children when used in adjusted amounts.

3–6 years:
1–2 teaspoons (approximately 1–1.5 g) per day

7–12 years:
2–3 teaspoons (approximately 2–3 g) per day

Prepare in the same way. For sensitive children or mild support, use the standard 30-minute infusion. For stronger calming support, a longer infusion (several hours) may be used.

Divide into 1–2 servings, ideally in the late afternoon or evening as part of a calming bedtime routine.

A little history

History of Linden (Tilia cordata, Tilia platyphyllos)

Linden - also known as lime tree in Europe (not related to citrus) - has held a special place in European culture and herbal tradition for centuries. It was never regarded as just another tree. In many regions, it was considered sacred.

🌿A Sacred and Protective Tree

In Germanic, Nordic, and Slavic traditions, the linden tree symbolized peace, protection, love, and justice. Village gatherings, celebrations, and even court meetings were often held beneath large linden trees. Many towns had a central “village linden” that served as a meeting place for the community.

In folklore, the tree was believed to protect against negative forces and lightning. It was also associated with feminine energy, gentleness, and nurturing qualities - characteristics that mirror its calming medicinal effects.

🌿Use in Medieval Herbal Medicine

During the Middle Ages, linden flowers and bracts were used in monastery medicine throughout Europe. Herbal texts from this period describe linden as a remedy for nervous tension, restlessness, and disturbed sleep. It was also prepared during fevers to encourage gentle perspiration.

Linden infusion became known as a comforting evening tea - something given not only for physical symptoms but also for emotional distress and agitation.

🌿Traditional Use for Colds and Fever

Across Europe, linden tea became a trusted household remedy during colds and flu. It was valued for supporting the body during fever and easing restlessness that often accompanies illness. The practice of drinking warm linden infusion to promote mild sweating during fever has been passed down through generations.

🌿A Family Herb

Linden has long been regarded as one of the safest and gentlest calming herbs for children. Traditionally, it was given for nightmares, nervousness, overexcitement, and difficulty falling asleep. Its mild action made it a staple in family herbal cabinets.

🌿Longevity and Cultural Presence

Linden trees are known for their impressive lifespan. Some specimens in Europe are hundreds - even over a thousand - years old. Their longevity contributed to their symbolic role as guardians of villages and witnesses to history.

Throughout centuries, linden has remained closely connected to the heart - both emotionally and physically - offering gentle support for tension, stress, and restlessness.
