Organic Sage for Hot Flashes, Perspiration & Women’s Wellbeing

Sage (Salvia officinalis) is one of the most useful herbs to consider when hot flashes, night sweats or increased perspiration become uncomfortable. It has a particularly strong place in women’s herbal care, especially during menopause, but its traditional use extends to the menstrual cycle and digestion too.

These capsules contain nothing complicated: 250 mg of organic sage leaf powder per capsule, providing 750 mg per recommended daily dose. A practical choice if you want the whole sage leaf in an easy daily format.

Hot Flashes, Night Sweats & Perspiration

One of the main reasons women choose sage is its association with perspiration and temperature-related discomfort.

Sage is traditionally used when sweating becomes more noticeable, including night sweats and perspiration associated with menopause. This makes it particularly interesting for women who experience hot flashes during the day or wake at night feeling hot and sweaty.

A Valuable Herb Through Different Stages of a Woman’s Life

Sage is not only relevant after menopause. It has a long history of use in women’s herbalism and has traditionally been chosen around the menstrual cycle and changing stages of a woman’s life.

This makes sage an interesting plant for women looking for one simple botanical supplement that can remain relevant as their needs change over time.

More Than a Women’s Herb

Sage also has a long-standing connection with digestion, which makes it useful beyond its better-known role in women’s wellbeing.

Traditionally used after food, sage is particularly associated with supporting comfortable digestion. So while many customers discover sage because of hot flashes or sweating, its digestive role is another good reason to keep this classic aromatic herb in a daily botanical routine.

Made in France using organically grown sage leaves. The formula contains only organic sage powder and a vegetable HPMC capsule.

More information

Botanical name: Salvia officinalis L.
Plant family: Lamiaceae
Plant part used: Leaf
Form: Whole organic leaf powder
Amount per capsule: 250 mg
Daily amount: 750 mg
Capsules: 200

Sage (Salvia officinalis) is a remarkably distinctive plant. Its soft, silvery leaves may look delicate, but they have an intensely aromatic character. Rub a fresh sage leaf between your fingers and its warm, herbaceous fragrance is released immediately.

The leaves are naturally rich in aromatic plant compounds and have a characteristic slightly bitter and astringent taste. This is one reason sage has traditionally been enjoyed in relatively small amounts, whether used as a culinary herb or prepared as a herbal infusion.

Sage is also a plant that thrives in the dry, sunny conditions of the Mediterranean. Its grey-green leaves are covered with fine hairs that help the plant cope with heat and water loss, an adaptation that gives sage its familiar soft, almost velvety appearance.

For supplementation, the leaf is the important part of the plant. In this product, the dried organic leaves are finely powdered and placed directly into vegetable capsules. It is therefore not an isolated ingredient or a complex formula. You are taking the whole sage leaf in a simple, concentrated daily format.

A little history

🌿Ancient Mediterranean roots

Sage (Salvia officinalis) is native to the Mediterranean and has been valued for more than two thousand years. Its botanical name reflects the extraordinary reputation the plant acquired: Salvia is derived from the Latin salvare, meaning “to save” or “to heal.”

The Greek physician Dioscorides, writing in the 1st century AD, included sage among the medicinal plants of his time. The Romans also valued the herb highly, using its aromatic leaves in food as well as in traditional herbal preparations. Sage became so respected that its harvesting was surrounded by particular customs and ritual.

🌿From monastery gardens to the household

During the Middle Ages, sage became a familiar sight in European monastery and medicinal gardens. Monks cultivated it alongside other important herbs, helping preserve botanical knowledge and carry the plant into later European herbal practice.

Its reputation became captured in the famous medieval saying:

“Why should a man die whilst sage grows in his garden?”

By the Renaissance, sage was no longer simply a medicinal garden plant. It had become part of everyday European life, grown in household gardens and used in cooking, infusions and traditional preparations.

🌿A herb that travelled beyond Europe

As trade expanded, sage and related Salvia species became known far beyond their Mediterranean origins. European sage became particularly prized in trade with China, where accounts from later centuries describe Chinese merchants valuing it highly in exchange for their own teas.

Across North Africa, aromatic sage preparations also became part of regional herbal and tea traditions, particularly in countries such as Morocco.

🌿From ancient herb to modern botanical

Few European herbs have maintained such a continuous presence across medicine, food, monastery gardens, household herbalism and modern phytotherapy.

Over the centuries, sage also accumulated powerful symbolism. It became associated with wisdom, longevity and protection, associations that still survive in its name and cultural reputation today.

FAQ

🌿 What is Organic Sage particularly useful for?
Sage is especially interesting for women experiencing hot flashes, night sweats and increased perspiration, which is why it is so often chosen during menopause. It also has a long-standing place in women’s herbal care around the menstrual cycle.

🌿 Is Sage only for women?
No. Although sage is particularly well known as a women’s herb, it is also traditionally used for digestion and excessive perspiration, so its use is not limited to menopause or women.

🌿 How much Sage do I take each day?
Take 3 capsules per day with a large glass of water during meals. This provides 750 mg of organic sage leaf powder per day.

🌿 How long does one box last?
Each box contains 200 capsules. At the recommended dose of 3 capsules per day, one box lasts approximately 66 days.

🌿 Is this Sage an extract or the whole plant?
It is whole sage leaf powder, not a concentrated extract. The organic leaves of Salvia officinalis are dried, finely powdered and placed directly into vegetable capsules. Each capsule provides 250 mg of sage leaf.

🌿 What can I combine Sage with?
That depends on what you want to focus on. For menopause and hot flashes, sage can be combined with a women’s formula such as Ginevitex, where sage brings a different botanical approach, particularly when sweating and hot flashes are prominent. For digestion, it can instead be paired with an aromatic or bitter plant such as Mugwort or Black Radish. The combination should reflect what you actually want support with rather than simply adding several herbs together.
