Herb 7 is a carefully balanced organic herbal blend created to support respiratory comfort, especially during seasonal changes. Lemon peel, marshmallow root, mallow, Scots pine buds, and thyme work in synergy to soothe the throat, support the upper airways, and bring gentle relief to irritation and dryness.

This infusion is a comforting companion in colder months or whenever the throat and respiratory system need extra care.

Respiratory Health & Throat Comfort

Herb 7 is traditionally used to support respiratory well-being. The combination of mucilage-rich marshmallow and mallow helps coat and soothe the throat and pharynx, while thyme and Scots pine contribute aromatic, clarifying notes that support comfortable breathing. Lemon peel adds a fresh, uplifting touch to the blend.

Ideal for:

  • Soothes the throat and upper airways

  • Vocal cord support

  • Seasonal respiratory support

  • Dry, irritated, or tickly throat sensations

Usage tips

Standard daily infusion (gentle support):

For one cup (250 ml): use 1 to 1½ teaspoons of the herbal blend. Pour hot water (maximum 80 °C) over the herbs, cover, and let infuse.

Stronger, medicinal-style infusion:
For deeper respiratory support, allow the herbs to infuse for at least 1 hour or longer, well covered.
This method extracts more of the soothing plant compounds, especially from marshmallow and mallow.

Decoction (stronger preparation):
A decoction means gently simmering the herbs in water rather than simply pouring hot water over them.
Use 3–4 tablespoons (10–12 g) per liter of water, bring to a gentle simmer, and let it cook slowly before straining.
This method helps extract deeper plant compounds, particularly from roots and more robust plant parts.

A little history

The plants in Herb 7 have a long and intertwined history in European herbal traditions, especially in folk medicine, monastery gardens, and seasonal home remedies. Long before modern medicine, these plants were trusted companions during cold months and times of respiratory discomfort.

Lemon peel (Citrus limonum)
Lemon trees are believed to have originated in Asia and spread to the Mediterranean through Arab trade routes during the Middle Ages. Lemon peel was traditionally valued not only for its fresh aroma and flavor, but also for its warming and clarifying qualities. In European herbalism, citrus zest was often added to winter infusions to lift the spirit, support digestion, and bring brightness to heavier herbal blends.

Marshmallow (Althaea officinalis)
Marshmallow has been used medicinally for over 2,000 years. The name Althaea comes from the Greek word althainein, meaning “to heal.” Ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans used marshmallow root to soothe irritation of the throat, mouth, and digestive tract. Its high mucilage content made it especially prized for calming dry, inflamed tissues - a reputation that has carried through centuries of European herbal practice.

Mallow (Malva sylvestris)
Common mallow was a staple plant in medieval monastery gardens and rural households across Europe. It was often referred to as “the plant of softness” due to its gentle, soothing nature. Traditionally, mallow leaves and flowers were used in teas and poultices to ease irritation of the throat, lungs, and skin. Roman writers even described mallow as a plant that could “calm the body and the spirit.”

Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris)
Scots pine has deep roots in Northern and Central European folk medicine. Pine buds and needles were traditionally harvested in spring and used in infusions, syrups, and steam inhalations. In forest regions, pine was considered a vital plant for supporting the lungs and breathing, especially during long winters. Its fresh, resinous aroma has long been associated with clarity, strength, and resilience.

Thyme (Thymus thymol)
Thyme has been revered since ancient times by Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. The Greeks associated thyme with courage and vitality, while Roman soldiers bathed in thyme-infused water for strength. In European herbal traditions, thyme became one of the most important plants for respiratory and throat support. Its strong aroma and warming nature made it a classic ingredient in winter teas and household remedies for coughs and throat discomfort.

Together, these plants form a blend that reflects centuries of herbal wisdom - gentle, supportive, and deeply connected to seasonal rhythms. Herb 7 is very much a modern expression of an old tradition: turning to plants for warmth, comfort, and breath when the air turns cold and the body asks for care.
