More information

INCI name: Argania Spinosa kernel oil *
Botanical name: Argania Spinosa
Part of the plant: Almond
Method of obtaining: Mechanical cold pressing of healthy and cleaned almonds (first pressing). The oil is then successively filtered on blotting paper
Origin of the plant: Morocco

Argan comes from the argan tree, an ancient tree which grows mainly in the arid zones of Morocco . Argan oil has been renowned for centuries among the Berbers who use it in cooking for its delicate nutty flavor.

The oil is obtained from the nut of the fruit (the Argan nut) which contains one to three almonds called almonds. These almonds are harvested and specifically selected from the tree in order to be freshly pressed.

General Guidelines for use in Cooking

Low-Heat Cooking Only:
Argan oil has a low smoke point, so it’s best used for finishing dishes, drizzling, or adding to cold dishes, rather than high-heat frying or sautéing.

Moderation:
Use sparingly to enjoy its rich flavor without overwhelming other ingredients.

Breakfast Ideas

Drizzle Over Yogurt or Oatmeal:
Add a nutty twist to your morning bowl. Pair with honey, fresh fruit, or nuts for extra flavor.

Toast Topping:
Spread on toasted bread with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a dollop of almond butter for a unique snack.
Salads & Dressings

Salad Dressing:
Whisk argan oil with lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, or apple cider vinegar for a light, nutty dressing. Add a pinch of salt and pepper.
Pairs well with greens, roasted vegetables, or grains like quinoa.

Drizzle on Salads:
Use as a finishing oil on fresh salads, especially those with nuts, fruits, or goat cheese.
Dips & Spreads

Amlou (Traditional Moroccan Dip):
Mix argan oil with roasted almonds (ground) and honey to create this rich, sweet dip. Serve with bread or crackers.

Hummus Upgrade:
Drizzle argan oil over hummus before serving to add depth of flavor.

Cooking & Main Dishes

Finishing Touch for Tagines:
Drizzle a little over Moroccan tagines, couscous, or roasted vegetables just before serving for an authentic taste.

Grilled Vegetables or Fish:
Brush grilled vegetables or fish with a small amount of argan oil before plating to enhance flavor.
